Ingredients: 250g butter, 150g caster sugar, 1 egg yolk, 2tsp vanilla extract, 300g plain flour, 100g milk chocolate, chopped hazelnuts or spinkles for decoration.

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line two baking trays. Mix the butter and sugar until light, soft and creamy. Add the vanilla extract and the egg yolk and mix to combine.
2. Add in the flour and mix until combined, you may need to knead slightly with your hands to fully combine.
3. Flour a clean surface and roll the biscuit dough out to around 0.5cm thick. Use a Christmas Tree cutter to cut out the biscuits and transfer to the baking trays. Bake for 12 minutes until golden brown.
4. Transfer to a wire cooling rack and allow to cool fully. Melt the chocolate in short bursts in a microwave or in a glass dish over a pan of hot water. Dip the biscuits into the chocolate then sprinkle on your decoration.
