Ingredients: 200g butter, 200g dark muscovado sugar, 100g black treacle, 100g golden syrup, 2 large eggs beaten, 300ml milk, 350g plain flour, 2tsp ground ginger, 1tsp ground nutmeg, 2tsp bicarbonate of soda

Cook: 1 hour
Heat oven to 180 degrees, melt the butter, sugar, treacle and golden syrup over a low heat and allow to cool.
Stir in the milk and beaten eggs. Then add the flour, ginger, nutmeg and bicarbonate of soda. Stir gently until combined then pour into your prepared cake tin. Bake for 50 minutes - 1 hour. Allow to cool then turn out of the tin. This can be left as a simple ginger cake or drizzle with royal icing and enjoy!
