how to put together the ultimate cheeseboard

Perfect for date nights or a simple supper with friends, our guide helps you to put together the ultimate cheeseboard teaming together cheeses, fruit, hams, chutneys and more.

Cheeseboard 1

Cheese - The key part of your cheeseboard! Try include a mixture of 4/5 cheeses with different textures which compliment the other aspects of your cheeseboard, our recommendations include:

Soft - Brie, Camembert, Buffalo Mozzarella

Crumbly - Cheshire, Feta, Caerphilly

Smoked - Gruyere, Smoked Cheddar Smoked Gouda

Blue - Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Danish Blue

Top Tip - Cheese is best served at room temperature, take your cheeses out of the fridge 1 hour prior to serving.

Fruit - Including fruit on a cheeseboard acts as a palate cleanser between cheeses. Try grapes, figs, apples, blueberries, pears and dried apricots.

Chutneys - You can't have a cheeseboard without a selection of chutneys! Matt from Just Preserves shares his expertise on the best pairings:

Cranberry & Port Chutney - great with brie and soft mild cheeses.

Chilli Jam - I like this with goats cheeses, adds sweetness and a chilli kick.

Bradfield Farmers Ale Chutney and Plum & Date Chutney - these both go really well with strong cheddars, the Bradfield one has apples, plums and a nice sweetness to it.  The Plum & Date is less sweet but is a nice rich strong flavour that compliments the cheddar.

Plum & Date Chutney - my favourite with blue cheeses, especially Montagnolo.

Good all rounders for most cheeses are Spiced Apple Chutney and Red Onion Marmalade.

Meats - Beautifully complementing the cheeses, a selection of meats is a must for any cheeseboard include parma ham, salami, slices of smoked sausages or chorizo.

Crackers and Breads - Select a mixture of crisp crackers including sea salt and black pepper, rosemary and a plain variety. Pair these with slices of baguette - a beautiful crispy crust and soft inside.

Extra Accompaniments - Other delicious extras to your cheeseboards to add different textures can include walnuts, almonds, olives and roasted peppers.

Serving Platters - Our selection of melamine platters combine the gorgeous patterns of marble, wood or slate with the toughness of melamine making it a perfect selection for any cheeseboard.
