Mixed Berry Mary Ann Cake

An American classic cake recipe, a Mary Ann Cake features soft fluted sides and a depression in the middle to be filled with cream or custard and fresh fruit. Perfect for sharing and a stunning centrepiece for dinner parties. Here's our recipe for a tasty mixed berry Mary Ann cake!

Mixed Berry Mary Ann Cake


225g butter, 300g caster sugar, 4 eggs, 2tsp vanilla extract, 250g plain flour, 250ml full fat milk, 2 tsp baking powder

Prep: 20 minutes

Cook: 20 minutes

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Beat the butter until soft and fluffy then add the sugar and beat until combined. Add the eggs one at at a time then stir in the vanilla extract.

Add half the flour and milk and stir until combined then add at remaining flour, milk and baking powder stirring again until combined.

Pour the mixture into a greased Mary Ann Cake Pan and bake for 20 minutes until risen and golden.

Allow the cake to cool fully, the top with custard, berries and a dusting of icing sugar.
